Hi, I’m Sylvia Inks. I help small business owners like you become confident by learning the business and financial skills to succeed in business, allowing you to spend more time and money on your family (and yourself).
I grew up in a family that ALWAYS talked about money. We talked about it at the dinner table, in the car, at the mall…anywhere my parents felt they could share a good money lesson.
My father was a hospital pharmacist and a business owner, opening several Chinese restaurants with family members and friends back in the 80’s. I was lucky enough to see both sides of earning money – consistent, steady income from a career job vs. fluctuating income from owning a small business.
The restaurants were very successful and consistently had a wait time of over an hour every weekend. The money from the restaurants was a great side hustle and allowed for my mother to be a stay-at-home mom to raise me and my younger brothers for over 18 years.
However, it didn’t last.
Before I finished college, my dad sold one of the restaurants and shut down two of the businesses. I had no idea that sales had started to decline, and the restaurants couldn’t keep up with new competition. I assumed the restaurants would be passed down as a family business. That was the last time my dad actively owned a small business.
Fast forward ten years…
I met my husband while living and working on a consulting project in San Francisco. We didn’t live and work in the same city for almost three years. When it came time for my husband and I to start our family, we decided that we both couldn’t work long hours and travel 100% with our corporate, IT jobs. I wanted and needed the flexibility and stability of staying in one location, so I stepped away from my 10-year IT consulting career in financial services and decided to pursue my dream to open my own business.
My passion — Helping small business owners like you, who are GREAT at what you do, but need help making more money to create and grow a profitable business.
WHY I DO IT:
Simply put – having a great product does not guarantee success. Managing your money well? Now, that can really improve your chances.
STATISTIC – The Bureau of Labor Statistics, Business Employment Dynamics has found that only two-third of businesses survive at least 2 years, and only 50% of small businesses survive the five-year mark. Shocking, isn’t it?
I want you to have the best chance possible to succeed – and that means hiring someone you can trust who can help you avoid the pitfalls and hazards waiting to stop you on your way to success.
Through my Busy Entrepreneur Program, my clients have gained the confidence and the knowledge needed to steer their businesses in the right direction.
Consider me your step-by-step guide to learning the business and financial skills you need to be a successful entrepreneur – so you have the money and time to what you want and when you want to do it.
